alex ISALY Co-Founder/Creator of R.I.P.P.E.D.; Fitness Expert/Instructor
Alex Isaly didn't start out his career dedicated to health and fitness. A native of Pittsburgh, Alex graduated from Allegheny College in western Pennsylvania with a degree in Environmental Geology. He actually started out as an environmental consultant, but he soon learned he desired more than a "green" career.
It all started in 1999, when Alex began competing in triathlons. Little did he know his first taste of pushing the limit and learning how to challenge himself would take him down a whole new path in life.
Over a decade later, Alex is pursuing his passion full time as a certified Group Fitness Instructor, personal trainer and co-founder/creator of R.I.P.P.E.D. – The One Stop Body Shock, one of the most popular group exercise workouts.
It was in January of 2008 when Isaly, along with business partner Terry Shorter, created the R.I.P.P.E.D. concept, "What we wanted to do was come up with something unique and different in the group exercise arena," said Isaly. "With R.I.P.P.E.D. we've developed a sports-based, fun, high energy exercise format that caters to all types of fitness levels from beginner to elite by encompassing several components of fitness….Resistance, Intervals, Power, Plyometrics, Endurance and Diet/Nutrition".
As a Fitness Expert/Instructor, Alex's passion is not just about instructing people to exercise properly, but to educate them on how they can change their life to lead a more balanced lifestyle. Alex believes the "The greatest gift in life is to be remembered." He feels blessed he is in an environment where health and wellness is the focus, and he has the opportunity to express his passion, while at the same time change peoples lives.
It was a long career in endurance sports that helped to build this deep passion. He has succeeded and excelled in numerous triathlons and cycling competitions state and nationwide. In 2008, he placed 5th in the HooDoo 500, a 520 mile ultra-endurance bike race, in St. George, Utah, finishing within 42 hours of non-stop cycling. He also competed and finished the 2003 Lake Placid Ironman. In 2008 he served as road team captain for Sho-Air/Sonance cycling club, the largest cycling club in Southern California. Alex currently serves as the Ambassador for several national and international companies such as: BioNutritional Research Group, MuscleWerks, and lululemon athletica. Alex was featured in the OC Metro November 2008 publication for the R.I.P.P.E.D. program and has appeared in "Body by Jake" and "PowerBase" infomercials. When he has time, he's a contributing writer of fitness articles for several fitness publications. Alex has been sponsored by Polar (Heart Rate monitoring company), Sugio apparel, and Skins compression undergarments. He was also selected as one of the male finalist in the Wilhelmina Hot Body Model Search. Alex is AFAA & ACE and Red Cross CPR/AED certified.
Alex has extensive experience in the fitness industry and is qualified to teach and train several formats including: R.I.P.P.E.D., indoor cycling (Master Trainer for LeMond Academy), TRX, strength/endurance/core/jump rope and youth conditioning, as well as triathlon and cycling coaching. His experience comes from competing at a semi-professional level and teaching at several top fitness clubs in Southern California.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, riding his road and mountain bike, reading, and most importantly relaxing with his beautiful wife, Michele, his 2 angelic daughters, Abby and Maddie, and their 11 year old Golden Retriever, Barron.
