R.I.P.P.E.D.: Does this thing really work…ABSOLUTELY!
So yesterday I was able to get a sneak peak at the numbers from Round 2 of measurements with Chuck and let me tell you, they are just as solid as last week’s. Without going into detail, here is what I am seeing from just about everyone.Lean Body Mass is going up (building more muscle) and Body Fat % is continuing to go down. Bottom line, everyone continues to get stronger while losing body fat.
Some of the feedback that I am getting from trainers, instructors, associates and members here at the Club that aren’t doing the Challenge, is that they are noticing you guys look like you are losing weight and leaning out. Trust me, it’s that obvious.
So first off, CONGRATULATIONS to everyone! You continue to bring it every class, and we love your discipline with the meal plans. Just continue to stick to the program and I guarantee you’ll see results. I can’t wait to see Friday’s measurements.
On another note, there are a couple of things I want to address that I’ve been hearing, especially after 2 weeks of following the program (Just so you know, we asked the same questions about ourselves during our Pre-R.I.P.P.E.D. Challenge in September). The first one being “Why isn’t the scale moving very much in the direction I would like it?” Well here is why, when Terry and I designed the R.I.P.P.E.D. format we specifically wanted to put together a fitness and nutrition program that continuously shocked the body while at the same time increase strength, endurance and shed the extra weight. “Shocking the Body” is the latest buzz word(s) in the fitness industry. Studies show that if you don’t change your fitness and nutrition routine on a regular basis your results will eventually plateau. Well guess what?.our program is working and you guys are proving it. Muscle weighs more than fat! If you are building muscle and losing fat the scale isn’t going to move that much, especially after 2 weeks. Eventually your bodies will get to a point where it can only build so much muscle and then you will see another drop in weight. Be patient!!! As long as you are maintaining or building muscle and shedding the extra layer of fat you are right on track.
Here is another really important point you guys need to know your bodies are extremely sensitive machines. If you skip a meal (or two), maybe not get in all of your calories in a meal, or even eat something that’s not on the program, it will throw your system off. Your body will think that it needs to store fat to make up for the deficiency and it will even slow your metabolism down. It could take a couple of days for your body get back on track again. This ultimately could effect your measurements and skew your numbers. Typically measurements should be taken every couple of weeks, but because you guys are going through a 31 day Challenge, we wanted to monitor your results more closely and do weekly check-ins to make sure your nutrition was dialed in. Just imagine what your numbers would look like every 2 weeks.
We are so proud of you guys!!!! Keep up the great work.

Wow — awesome feedback! Thanks for your insight, Alex.
And you don’t have to worry about me skipping meals — you know I love good food.
Food is nutrition for the heart and soul — literally!

Thanks Alex – I was a slightly worried Tuesday night when I got measured because my numbers were not even close to the week before and I have been sticking to the food perfectly. I am feeling a lot stronger though and that is so important. I am so used to looking at numbers, and I have not focused on the fact that I am in so much better shape now and my fitness level has improved immensely. Obviously there is more to it than just numbers and I had to remind myself of that. I can make it through class so much easier now than I could just two months ago. I didn’t say it was “easy”, just “easier” than before. It still kicks my butt, not just as hard.
It feels so good to see and feel these kinds of results in such a short period of time. Thank you guys!

Awesome awesome feedback Alex – it’s exactly what we need to hear to stay focus and know that we’re all on the right track – remember ladies, it’s not about the numbers….Be smart – eat healthy and appreciate your food as oppose to your food dictating you!

Awesome post! I think we all tend to forget how amazing our bodies are! When we treat it right and fuel it with right stuff— real magic starts to happen. Thanks for the encouraging words. I need that. Thanks for all that you guys do! I am dying to fit into my skinny jeans!

This program is amazing! It’s as simple as that! I can’t believe the results I’ve gotten in such a short period of time and i’m not new to working out! Thank you to all the trainers for adding me at the last minute and to Chuck for expediting my diet info so that I could get started right away. I just finished up one of the two busiest work weeks for me (LA Fashion Week shows) and the pressure (positive kind of course!), committment and knowing I had to see Chuck for measurements each week got my tired booty in the gym. I did miss one day because I’ve also been sick all week but I was so anxious to get right back as soon as my fever went away. Thank you again for all the encouragement and feedback!! I can’t wait to really kill it when i’m feeling 100% again.

It’s encouraging to hear that everyone is thinking what I am. Even though I know not to worry about the scale, it’s hard to let it go completely. I gained 1 lb this week and I was worried that this routine didn’t have enough cardio compared to my typical routine, but my measurements showed that I’m losing body fat and gaining lots of muscle. I can’t argue with losing 5 inches in 2 weeks especially while eating avocados, cheese, and chocolate-dusted almonds.
Thanks for the continuing encouragement Anna-Rita, Terry, and Alex!

Everyone’s results are SHOWING INCREASES in lean body mass. LBM burns FAR more fat that having LOW LBM. Skiny fat does not cut it. HOWEVER, we are not on a calorie plan nor training program to look like the incredible hulk either….In the long run more lean muscle mass is the best for continued fat burning.

oing countless sit-ups and leg-raises or slogging out day in and day out on the latest abs equipment without paying heed to your diet and an aerobic activity is not going to make your abdominal fat go away. What these exercises do is to shape up and tone your abdominal muscles, but do nothing to metabolize away the layers of fat covering them. That is why the shaped and toned muscles remain elusive to the eye.
